Chase Banks is an American percussionist who has performed and taught clinics in the United States, United Kingdom, Spain, and Portugal. In August 2019, Chase will begin pursuing a Doctorate in Percussion Performance at the Florida State University. Some of his most recent accomplishments include winning an ensemble position with the 2019 edition of the World Percussion Group and commissioning and performing four new pieces for vibraphone through the Green Vibes Project.
From a performance standpoint, Chase has toured internationally performing at numerous conservatories and universities as well as venues such as the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. Chase has also played with many chamber ensembles and professional and regional orchestras in the Southeast including the South Carolina Philharmonic, Augusta Symphony Orchestra, Augusta Choral Society, and the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. In 2017, Chase won the University of South Carolina Concerto Competition performing Ney Rosauro's Concerto for Vibraphone.
In August of 2018 Chase and his wife started the Green Vibes Project - a “new music” commissioning organization aimed at commissioning composers to write for vibraphone, recyclable instruments, and metallic percussion. The Series 1 commissioning cycle spanned from August 2018 to January 2019 followed by a concert premiere and summer recording session. Recordings of the Series 1 compositions will be available in August 2019.
